1) The Kings Centre may be used for community and recreational purposes generally
without unnecessary or unreasonable restrictions on any such uses or activities
or discrimination on the grounds of colour, race, nationality, ethnic or national
origins or religion (except, insofar as the law allows, acts of religious worship
or activities inconsistent with or in conflict with the aims or beliefs of the
Meadows Community Church) or disability provided that the activities taking place
are lawful and otherwise within the planning scope of the building and any other
legislation or regulations governing recreational buildings.
2) Tariffs for use of the building are based on Community and Business rates. Community
rates will be available to those Hirers who can satisfy the Centre Management
that their organization is i) established for the benefit of the community, ii)
not established for profit and iii) are charities or self funded. Business rates
will apply to all other organization or groups.
3) Booking of the facility let to schools, churches, clubs, associations or organization
representing affiliated clubs or constituted organization are charged at the agreed
hire tariff exclusive of VAT at present although this may change in the future.
Recurring bookings will be limited to not more than 12 months and will be subject
to renegotiation provided previous compliance with the terms and conditions has
been demonstrated.
4) Every application must demonstrate the nature, purpose, content and programme
of the event for which the premises are required. Publicity material used to promote
the Hirer's event must be approved by the Centre Management. The building is not
to be used for the promotion of any teachings or activities in conflict with the
aims of beliefs of the Meadows Community Church.
5) The centre is a Christian owned facility and the management expects high standards
of behaviour from all users, and Hirer's are responsible for the conduct of the
group whilst in the centre.
6) The Hirer agrees to leave the premises and equipment in the same condition in
which they were found. The Hirer agrees that The Kings Centre Management will
arrange for any damages made during the hire period or damages which occur as
a result of actions made during the hire period to the structure or fabric of
the building or to any equipment hired to the Hirer to be repaired to the standard
to which they were hired and the cost will be paid for by the Hirer.
7) The Hirer will vacate the premises no later than the time booked. The Hirer is
responsible for ensuring that guests leave the premises in a quiet and responsible
manner having due regard for local residents.
8) Room bookings and support facilities must be paid for 28 days in advance unless
otherwise agreed by the Centre Management. If any booking is cancelled at less
than 28 days notice (and the facility is not re-let) the Hirer is liable to pay
in full. The Centre Management reserves the right to re-let times an spaces where
provisional bookings have been made by telephone and booking forms have not been
returned with payment 28 days before the hire date. In some cases The Kings Centre
Management may require a deposit when a booking is made.
9) No letting shall continue beyond 10.30pm unless prior permission is obtained from
the Centre Management.
10) Lettings for music and dancing are admissible without a public license application
only if entertainment is for a closed organization where admission is by invitation
only. Entertainment is regarded as private if admission is restricted to members
of a club, church, or a group or a similar association and their guests; or in
the case of a school to students, former students, their parents and friends.
The Hirer is advised that only members or friends especially invited will be admitted
to the function. All other entertainment is classified as public entertainment
and there is a statutory requirement that the building must be licensed for these
events. Lettings for the use of the premises for public entertainment will require
application for an occasional license. Costs of the application are excluded from
the hire tariff and shall be negotiated on a case by case basis with the local
authority depending on the function size. The centre will not be available for
events that could lead to excessive noise levels for local residents such as discotheques
or rock concerts.
11) The Kings Centre is covered by Public Liability Insurance. However, no liability
is accepted by any part of the organization for the loss or damage to any property
belonging to any person or organization using the Centre. Nor does The Kings Centre
or Meadows Community Church or any of its staff or employees or volunteers accept
any liability for personal accident or illness sustained by any person. Hirer's
are required to carry their own public liability insurance cover.
12) The Hirer is responsible for ensuring that the numbers attending an event do not
exceed that quoted in the application.
13) The Hirer must not sublet to another group.
14) The Kings Centre is designated as a non-smoking area. The Hirer is to ensure that
those who wish to smoke do so outside the building.
15) Normally the drinking of alcohol is prohibited at The Kings Centre. In special
cases a dispensation for the use of alcohol in support of a function can be applied
for from The Kings Centre Management provided the Hirer can demonstrate controls
that will ensure use of alcohol will not be abused. Sale of alcohol on the premises
is strictly prohibited.
16) The Kings Centre reserves the right to cancel the lettings if the premises are
closed or required for official or electoral purposes. The Kings Centre reserves
the right to refuse, alter or cancel lettings at the Management's discretion.
17) First Aid facilities are provided at the First Aid Point behind main reception.
18) Hirers are reminded that they and their group should be fully conversant with
the procedures to be followed in the even of a fire or bomb alert. This is detailed
on the Fire Action notices throughout the building.
19) The Hirer undertakes not to park on the streets immediately surrounding the Centre,
namely Spa Lane and Mowsley End.
